Jet2 Expands Gatwick Operation as Summer 2027 Bookings Remain Strong

Jet2 is increasing its presence at London Gatwick for Summer 2027, as the airline reports continued strong demand for holidays and flights.

The airline has confirmed that seven aircraft will now be on sale from Gatwick for Summer 2027, an increase from its original plans as the airport continues to perform ahead of expectations.

Jet2 says its Summer 2026 booked passengers are currently 8.8% higher than last year, with demand remaining strong despite the wider challenges facing the aviation industry.

The airline is also increasing its overall Winter 2026/27 capacity by 8% year-on-year, with much of the additional flying concentrated at Gatwick.

Jet2 will have 5.9 million seats on sale across its network for winter, including around 400,000 additional seats at Gatwick.

The growth comes during an important period for Jet2 at the airport. The airline launched its Gatwick operation earlier this year and has been expanding its presence as it competes for a larger share of the South East leisure market.

Jet2 currently operates from 14 UK bases, including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Belfast and Newcastle.

The company has also confirmed that it intends to move from the London Stock Exchange’s AIM market to the Main Market, subject to the required approvals.

For UK passengers, the latest update points to continued expansion from Jet2 despite higher fuel costs and ongoing uncertainty across the aviation industry.

With additional aircraft planned at Gatwick and capacity increasing for winter, Jet2’s UK network is set to continue growing into 2027.
