American Airlines and British Airways to Offer Up to 14 Daily New York–London Flights

American Airlines is increasing its presence at London Heathrow for Summer 2027, with the return of a fourth daily service between New York JFK and Heathrow.

The additional flight will begin on 28 March 2027 and will be operated by a Boeing 787-9 fitted with American’s Flagship Suite seats.

The move means American Airlines and British Airways will together offer up to 14 daily flights between New York and London next year, which American says will be the highest number offered by any airline partnership on the route.

London remains one of American’s most important international markets, particularly for premium traffic, and the airline says it is currently the largest US carrier serving the city.

American has been steadily increasing the number of aircraft featuring its new Flagship Suite product at Heathrow. The seats first appeared on London services from Chicago and Philadelphia in 2025, before being introduced on flights from Dallas, New York and Los Angeles.

The fourth JFK frequency forms part of a wider international expansion announced by American for Summer 2027, which also includes new services to Amsterdam, Nice, Vienna, Porto and Reykjavik.

American’s Senior Vice President of Network and Schedule Planning, Brian Znotins, said the airline is continuing to grow its international network while investing in its onboard product and customer experience.

For passengers travelling between the UK and New York, the additional frequency will further increase the already significant amount of capacity available between Heathrow and JFK.

The close partnership between American Airlines and British Airways also allows passengers to connect across both airlines’ wider networks on either side of the Atlantic.

Tickets for American’s new Summer 2027 services will go on sale from 31 August.
