Ryanair Reaches 8 Million Passengers at Glasgow Airport

Ryanair has passed 8 million passengers at Glasgow Airport, marking more than a decade of flying from the airport.
The airline began operating from Glasgow in 2014 and now has 46 weekly flights across six routes for Winter 2026, with destinations including London Stansted, Dublin, Malaga & Wroclaw.
The milestone comes after Ryanair added London Stansted and Warsaw Modlin to its Glasgow network, alongside increased frequencies on some existing routes.
How does Glasgow compare with Ryanair’s other Scottish airports?
Ryanair’s Scottish operation is spread across three airports, but each plays a different role.
At Glasgow Airport, Ryanair operates a relatively focused network alongside a large mix of other airlines.
At Edinburgh, Ryanair has access to Scotland’s largest airport market, with a much wider overall passenger base and a large international network.
Then there is Glasgow Prestwick, which is much more closely associated with Ryanair. The airline has based aircraft there and operates a strong leisure-focused network to destinations across Europe.
That means Ryanair doesn’t necessarily need to put every new Scottish route at Glasgow. It can choose between three very different airports depending on the market.
Could Glasgow see more?
There is currently no confirmed Ryanair expansion at Glasgow.
However, the 8 million passenger milestone comes after the airline has already added new routes and increased capacity at the airport.
Glasgow Airport has also said it wants to continue working with Ryanair to create more opportunities for passengers and grow connectivity.
With Ryanair continuing to target growth across the UK, Glasgow will be one to watch.
For now, the 8 million milestone shows just how established Ryanair has become at GLA — and the next route announcement could give us a better idea of where the airline sees further opportunities in Scotland.
