IndiGo to Suspend Heathrow Flights as Norse Atlantic 787 Deal Ends

IndiGo will suspend its London Heathrow service later this year as it prepares to end its Boeing 787 agreement with Norse Atlantic Airways.

The airline will stop operating the leased Boeing 787-9s from late October, with the agreement covering six aircraft due to end by 31 October 2026.

IndiGo said difficult operating conditions, including airspace restrictions, higher fuel costs and wider geopolitical disruption, had affected the performance of its longer international routes.

The Heathrow service currently relies on the Norse-operated Dreamliners and is expected to remain suspended until IndiGo begins receiving its own Airbus A350-900s.

The route was launched as part of the airline’s wider push into Europe, but has faced a number of operational challenges since starting.

IndiGo’s Mumbai to Amsterdam service will continue, although it will move from the Boeing 787 to the Airbus A321XLR.

The airline has also already confirmed that its Manchester flights will end on 31 August 2026, with one of the leased Dreamliners being returned to Norse.

Despite ending the current 787 operation, IndiGo still plans to expand its long-haul network once its own Airbus A350 fleet begins arriving.

Passengers booked on affected Heathrow flights are expected to be offered alternative travel options or refunds.
