easyJets first base in Africa launches with new routes

easyJets first-ever base in Africa has now started operations

easyJet has today officially opened its new base in Marrakech, Morocco, a significant milestone for the airline as it expands its operations in the region. This new base is launching with three aircraft, which will serve as the backbone for the airline’s growing network in North Africa.

At the event marking the inauguration of the Marrakech base, easyJet unveiled six exciting new routes. Among these routes is a highly anticipated connection from Birmingham to Agadir, a coastal city known for its beautiful beaches and warm climate. This route is expected to go on sale this spring, with the first flights anticipated to commence next winter.

In addition to the Birmingham to Agadir route, a new service from Newcastle to Marrakech was also announced, with operations scheduled to begin on 3rd November 2026. This route will operate twice weekly.

With these developments, easyJet's network in Morocco now stands at 47 routes from 5 local airports in the region. This is not only enhancing travel options for leisure and business travelers alike but also this makes them the largest carrier to Morocco from the UK

Kenton Jarvis, CEO of easyJet, commented:

“We couldn’t be happier to launch our base in Morocco for our 20th year of operations in the country and to mark the milestone of 20 million passengers flown over that time. This is a milestone for our development in the region, providing more travel opportunities than ever before for our airline and holidays customers, while contributing to the local economy through tourism and the jobs we are creating.”
