TUI expands Summer 2027 programme with eight new routes from Gatwick

3 min read

TUI has unveiled its Summer 2027 flying programme, with a major expansion at London Gatwick and 25 new routes being added across its European airline network.

The airline plans to operate around 84,000 flights and offer 17 million seats during Summer 2027, representing a 4.6% increase in capacity compared with Summer 2026.

Around 640,000 additional seats will be added across the programme, with TUI also introducing 11 destinations that are new to its wider airline network.

Gatwick to gain eight new routes

London Gatwick will be the largest growth base in TUI’s Summer 2027 programme.

The airline will add eight new routes from Gatwick, taking its network at the airport to 59 destinations.

The new destinations are:

  • 🇬🇷 Athens

  • 🇮🇹 Palermo

  • 🇪🇸 Santiago de Compostela

  • 🇪🇸 Seville

  • 🇪🇸 Valencia

  • 🇲🇦 Tangier

  • 🇹🇳 Djerba

  • 🇬🇷 Mytilene

The expansion will provide passengers from London and the surrounding regions with more options for Summer 2027, covering destinations across southern Europe and North Africa.

TUI says the additional flying will support both its package holiday business and the growing flight-only market.

25 new routes across Europe

The Gatwick expansion forms part of a much wider programme covering the UK, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.

TUI will introduce 25 new routes across the four markets, adding approximately 640,000 seats during the summer season.

Most of the new services are expected to operate between two and three times per week.

The new routes will open up previously unserved destinations across countries including Spain, Greece, Italy, Slovenia, Tanzania, Cape Verde and Morocco.

TUI says around one-third of its network has been reshaped, with capacity, frequencies or aircraft deployment adjusted following a network review.

The changes are designed to move aircraft towards markets where the airline sees stronger long-term demand.

TUI increases Summer 2027 capacity

Summer 2027 will be TUI Airline’s largest airline-led programme to date, according to the group.

The airline expects to operate 84,000 flights and offer 17 million seats, with capacity increasing by 4.6% year-on-year.

TUI says the programme has been developed under a new commercial framework which brings together demand from its tour operators, external partners and customers booking flights only.

The aim is to allow TUI to make better use of its aircraft while continuing to support its package holiday operation.

New Boeing 737 MAX 10 aircraft

The Summer 2027 programme will also see an important fleet development for TUI.

Subject to certification, the Boeing 737-10 is expected to enter service during the second quarter of 2027, with Amsterdam becoming the launch base for the aircraft.

TUI plans to operate seven Boeing 737-10 aircraft from Amsterdam, replacing six Boeing 737-8s.

The larger 737-10 is expected to provide around 15% more seats per aircraft, giving TUI additional capacity while making use of its existing fleet strategy.

Long-haul network also expands

TUI’s Summer 2027 programme also includes new long-haul flying.

A new twice-weekly Boeing 787 service from Düsseldorf to Curaçao will be introduced, while Amsterdam will gain a new twice-weekly Boeing 787 service to Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, operating as part of a combined routing with Zanzibar.

For the UK, however, the biggest change remains the expansion at Gatwick, where eight new destinations will take TUI’s network to 59.

The programme represents another significant increase in capacity at one of the UK’s largest airports as airlines continue to build their Summer 2027 schedules.

With more routes, additional seats and changes to aircraft deployment, TUI is positioning Summer 2027 as a major expansion of its European network.
