British Airways expands Summer 2027 network with new Tanzania flights

British Airways has announced a series of changes to its long-haul network for Summer 2027, including new flights from London Gatwick to Tanzania and increased capacity across Latin America.
The airline plans to increase seat capacity across its Latin American network by 25% next summer.
A key part of the expansion is a new daily non-stop service between London Heathrow and Buenos Aires, giving passengers a direct link between the UK and Argentina.
New Gatwick flights to Tanzania
The new Tanzania service will operate three times a week from London Gatwick, travelling first to Kilimanjaro before continuing to Zanzibar.
Flights are scheduled to begin on 29 May 2027 and operate until 31 October 2027, covering the summer season.
The service will operate as a triangular route, with the return journey departing Zanzibar and flying back to Gatwick.
The flights are scheduled for Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays from Gatwick, with the return leg operating on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
The route will be operated by a Boeing 777, with Club World business class, World Traveller Plus premium economy and World Traveller economy cabins.
The service gives British Airways customers a direct connection to Kilimanjaro, a gateway for safari trips in northern Tanzania and climbs of Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as Zanzibar, known for its beaches and historic Stone Town.
More capacity across Latin America
Alongside the Tanzania announcement, BA is increasing capacity across Latin America by 25% for Summer 2027.
The new daily Heathrow–Buenos Aires non-stop service is part of the changes. BA is also making adjustments to its services to Santiago and Rio de Janeiro, while San José in Costa Rica is set to become a year-round route, operating three times a week.
The airline is also planning more summer capacity to Cape Town, increasing from seven to ten flights per week, and to Las Vegas, which will rise from 13 to 14 weekly flights.
Changes at Gatwick and St Lucia
BA’s new Gatwick service to Barbados, launching in October 2026, is set to continue into Summer 2027. The service includes onward flights to Grenada, Guyana and Tobago.
Flights from Gatwick to St Lucia will also continue next summer as a direct service, operating four times a week.
The changes form part of BA’s wider plans for the 2027 summer season, with additional frequencies and seasonal services across several long-haul destinations.
